This happened in Dubai several years ago.

There are questions I want to ask, but probably don’t know enough about the situation to even form them properly.

You can tell it wasn’t Pastor driving because he didn’t hit the Ford GT.

Likewise.

If you had framed this as “Ford vs. Renault drag race,” the result would be less surprising.

That’s true.

Tire pressure is even more critical in F1.

Me neither. I’m so glad the GT got by unscathed.

Broke axle perhaps? Definitely mechanical as fast as it snapped and unrecoverable

That sounds likely.

Nope, some mediocre rally driver trying to drive a car waaaaaay outside of his capabilities.

Open wheel cars do come around with cold tires and I do think the guy was a little crazy for putting those revs into it off the line, but the cars do have traction control. The thing that makes me think there is a mechanical error is he got quite a ways out perfectly straight before things when to shit. A Rally driver is pretty good in my book as well and I’m not quick to dismiss them....especially at the FIA official level. Did they ever give an explanation?

He was sort of a rally driver. Mostly just a rich bored arab.
